PURPOSE AND MISSION:

Organization Purpose

The purpose of this organization is to make a difference in the lives of others. We hope to add new members so we will be able to grow and expand. We also want to have fun while we are together and when we are working on projects. By developing relationships and friendships, the organization will become even stronger.

What is Rotaract?

Rotaract is a voluntary service organization for women and men between 18 and 30 years of age sponsored by Rotary International.
Rotaract consists of a network of clubs, usually of around 10-20 members, representing their local suburb, town, municipality or university. Our club represents Florida Atlantic University, one of the fastest growing univerisities in the country, in Boca Raton, Florida.

Activities and Projects

Rotaract clubs meet on a regular basis (usually twice-monthly), where members discuss events, learn leadership skills through guest speakers, plan activites and projects and, OF COURSE, have fun!
Activities and projects are many and varied, and are organized to meet the interests of the club's members.
In general, activites are organized with the following aims: to develop members' professional and leadership qualities, to provide services or raise funds for the community, and to enhance international understanding.
Exactly what that means is wholly dependant on the interests and ideas of the members of each club. Most importantly, activities are intended to be benficial and enjoyable to participants.

The Rotaract/Rotary Relationship

Rotaract is an integral part of the Rotary International organization. Each Rotaract club is sponsored by a Rotary club. Rotary supports Rotaract by providing financial and organizational assistance, as well as offering grants for special projects. Rotaract members are also invited to apply for Rotary's international travel exchange programs.
Rotaract clubs share an ongoing relationship with their sponsoring Rotary clubs, often joining each other at meetings and joint events. Rotary and Rotaract clubs often work together in community service projects, particularly in Rotary's New Generations programs.
If you are interested in Rotaract, don't wait another day!  We could use someone enthusiastic like yourself and your community needs you!

Organizational Mission:

Our mission is to further promote the interests of our organization and our members to the community. We strive to make a difference by educating the public and expanding our reach.

Our Current Mission

As part of our international service commitment, this year the F.A.U. Rotaract Club held its first annual music festival, AUDITORY COLLISIONS, to raise money to finish the construction of Felege Berhan, a school in Entoto, Ethiopia (near the city of Addis Ababa).  The school currently educates 150 students, many of whom do not have chairs or desks to sit in, pencils and paper to write or books to read.  One of our goals for this project is to raise at least enough money to purchase a grinding mill for the school so that lunches can be served to the students.
